Cost of training

To become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) you need to pass 3 tests:

  • Part 1: theory test (100 multiple choice questions and a hazard perception test)
  • Part 2: test of driving ability (this is a 1 hour driving test)
  • Part 3: test of ability to teach pupils (An ADI Examiner from DVSA will observe you giving a 45 minute driving lesson and will assess your ability against a set of 17 competences)

Training Costs:

  • £1500.00 (paid in 6 instalments)

The above price is the total training fee leading up to your first attempt of the Part 3 test. No contract, no commitment until you apply for a trainee licence to instruct pupils. 


Below are extra costs payable to DVSA:

Exam Fees:

  • ADI part 1 test = £81
  • ADI part 2 test = £111
  • ADI part 3 test = £111

Trainee licence:

  • Trainee driving instructor licence = £140

Registration:

  • First ADI certificate (badge) = £300
